Season 3, Episode 8 Plot Summary
Theodore reaches into the shadows to connect with Melliore and find her. The trail leads him (and Ysabelle) to a shut down car dealership. There they find a hidden facility, a lot of dead people killed by Melliore, and Melliore herself, blindfolded and chained to a metal chair. One of the men, Braxton Collier, is still alive. He is given over to Theodore for questioning.
It becomes clear that Braxton works for a paramilitary organisation, and that it knows far more than it should about kindred (or Blankbodies, as they call them). Though they operate in cells, with limited contact across groups, Theodore picks up a few leads.
Joanne has left goodbye notes for the coterie. It is clear she considers them all damned. Velvet is angered by this. Silas is worried about her, and Theodore dissappointed that she chose to leave without speaking to them. Joanne has given her boon over Sir Enolf to Theodore.
Velvet meets Barnaby's mother, Nikki, who is staying in his flat, and rapidly decides that he cannot live in the same space as her for long! He then goes out with Adam, enjoying their newfound freedom. Adam is very keen to share blood again, but Velvet just manages to persuade him to wait, for now...
Silas is taken out by Finn to start encouraging people to put their political support behind Sir Marta. They start with Sally, who is angry that her sire spoke to Silas before he left and not her. Finn is much more direct with her than usual, and brutal, while Silas plays 'good cop'. Sally agrees to do what they ask.
Brick reaches an accord with Velvet, and talks about a future where they might not have to live under the heel of the elders. He mentions that Helena is not the worst of Princes, and that Bronagh Hughes of Reading is his friend (and by extension will give Velvet a hearing if he gives Brick's name).
Brick and Soap also help Theodore to make a case for Cheng-Li to become the next Regent of Oxfordshire.
Silas meets with Jenny, who demands to know what he's gotten involved in. Silas offers her the chance to join him, but warns she will have to give up everything to do so. He continues to avoid the details of vampirism, and gains one stain.
Seth comes to Velvet looking for Wallace. Velvet manipulates Seth into thinking that it would be best if he left the domain for his own safety, and Seth thanks him for it before running for the hills.
The coterie spend the month doing their best to persuade the domain that it must not accept Helena's rule, and are very successful. This means that at the start of September, when she and the kindred of Reading return, she is met by a united Oxfordshire. Helena is received, not as prince, but as a petitioner. Like everyone else, she will need to earn the Herald's Coin from one of the gatekeeper's, before she can be sworn into the city.
However, because Helena would be recognised as Prince if she is successful, the test is suitably difficult. Sir William tells her that Drogo took the domain by clearing away the threats, however there was one threat he never dealt with: The Bowman. If Helena can bring them his head, they will accept her as a citizen. Helena reluctantly agrees. Gareth Thomas, the Boonkeeper (and therefore impartial), is chosen to observe her during this trial, and the Southern Vehme are to go with him and ensure that he comes to no harm.
Silas passes his remorse check! He feels bad for misleading Jenny, but does not lose humanity.
